This app retrieves the latest Residents' Deposit and Lending and Finance Leases data from the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) website, enabling simple data visualisation and comparisons.

The data is sourced directly from APRA's official publications, typically found at:APRA Monthly Statistics.

For lending, the data comes from “Total residents loans and finance leases”, and for deposits, from “Total residents deposits”.

The name of the APRA data file being read is displayed on the Dashboard and Comparisons pages, and can be easily verified by visiting the APRA site.

The Dashboard allows for the selection of an individual Institution Name, enabling the viewing of trends over time, examination of growth rates, and comparison to overall system growth.

A Comparisons page allows for the comparison of up to 10 institutions' Lending and Deposit growth rates over different periods, up to 52 months.

Unfortunately, a data source for monthly margin levels doesn’t currently exist, so only an assessment of growth levels can be provided, which doesn't indicate growth in profitability, only volume.

Note: Growth rates displayed in this application represent the level of growth over the selected period, rather than annualised growth rates.

The app was built using a Vibe coding approach with Google’s Firebase Studio and Gemini AI tools.
